Enterprise Communication service provider, Tata Communications, today announced the opening of a new Internet Data Center in Kolkata thereby claiming to be the first player in India to have presence across all metro cities in India.
The new data center connected to the company’s Tier I India and Global network backbone has been built as per Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) 942 standards. It is spread over 6,000 sq ft and is placed in the same facility as Tata Communications’ core network infrastructure backbone. Tata Comm says this enables enterprises to have excellent connectivity across India and the world with minimum latency and maximum reliability.
The company aims to target companies located in the East so as to enable them to locate their data close to their customers for better service quality.
“We are extremely happy to enter the Eastern India market, making us the only data centre services player with presence across the metros. The eastern India market is a relatively untapped market and we hope to act as an enabler for attractive investment opportunities in this region through our services. Now customers will no longer need to invest in setting up captive data centers or locate it outside the region. We offer them the same stringent SLAs and quality assurance which they have come to expect from us,” said Abid Qadiri, Vice President, Data Center Services, Global Managed Solutions, Tata Communications.
The new IDC launch is part of the company’s $ 2 billion investment plan over the next three years. |
