BT to take away another 2000 contact centers from India back to UK
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  17 Jul 2009

British Telecom CEO Ian Livingston said in response to a specific query during the shareholder’s AGM that the company will indeed transfer 2000 contact center jobs from India to UK.

The company officially attributed the call back to improved customer service processes.

Majority of the 2000 jobs are currently outsourced to Indian companies like HCL and Infosys. Hence effectively the move will impact these companies more on the financial front as well as slashing of its work force.

BT plans to transfer these jobs to UK and have the 2000 employees directly under its rolls. It plans to accommodate its employees who have recently suffered termination due to job cuts in their respective units.

The company has similarly transferred 2000 jobs from India to UK earlier last year.
