MTS notches up 1mn new subscribers within 3 months to reach the 2 mn mark

SSTL’s MTS announced that it has scaled the 2 million subscriber mark, notching up 1 million within 3 months of reaching the one million mark.

MTS further claimed that it emerged as the operator with highest month-on-month growth rate of 16.8 % in August 2009. It was the only operator to register a double digit month-on-month growth. The operator says that it is witnessing monthly additions of 250,000 as compared to earlier average of 150,000.

Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Vsevolod Rozanov, President and CEO of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited, “Having started our operations in India in September 2008, and having launched the MTS brand in India only earlier this year, we are really excited at the fast pace at which we have been winning customer confidence in the country. We crossed the second million in less than half the time taken to reach the first one million!”
