Tatanet notches up highest additions in VSAT connections for second successive quarter

Tatanet is rapidly emerging as a strong contender in the Indian VSAT services market as the company followed its strong performance in March quarter where it emerged with the highest growth rate at over 60 % with a slowed down but noteworthy growth rate of 30.52 % for the quarter ended June’09.

Tatanet managed to clock up 2561 new VSAT connections during the quarter making it the highest number achieved by any service provider. This trend is similar to the March quarter when by adding 3173 new connections it emerged at the top.

Tatanet’s market share is now seen at 10.11 % . Hughes Communications has market share of 29.4 % while Bharti Airtel 25.9 % and subsidiary Bharti Broadband 4.43 %. Bharti Broadband reported yet another fall in subscriber base for second successive quarter.

Number of VSAT Connections

Overall the VSAT industry added 108,328 new connections in June’09 as compared to 102,220 in March’09 at a quarterly growth rate of 5.98%.
