Pune-based Sterlite Technologies which specializes in providing transmission solutions particularly for the power and telecom industries today announced its quarter 2 results registering Rs 465.83 crore revenues at a net profit of Rs 54.67 crore. The revenues were down by 30 % while the net was up by 800 %.
The earning per share reached Rs.8 as compared to Rs 0.93 during the corresponding quarter last year at an exponential surge of 640 %. EBITDA was at Rs 91.08 crore as compared to Rs 49.69 crore in September 2008 at 88 % growth.
Internal sales reached Rs 326 crore in the first half of the quarter contributing 36 % to the company’s total revenues.
The company claims to have a order book of Rs 1,725 crore mainly for its power and telecom products. It further claims to have added 4 more patents taking its total count to 20.
Pravin Agarwal – Director, Sterlite Technologies said, “Despite the very difficult market conditions faced in recent months, our results are in line with our forecasts. The trends in both the telecom and power sectors continue to point towards good growth in terms of volumes for our core products - Optical Fiber and Power Conductors. Sterlite will continue to focus on pursuing its strategic objectives, the most important of which are economies of scale through capacity enhancements, cost efficiencies and maximizing free cash flow.”
