Bharti Airtel sets up a new Centre for Shared Services for Taxation

Bharti Airtel today inaugurated its new Centre for Shared Services for Taxation which will operate under the ‘Airtel Activ’ umbrella and where multi-functional processes such as HR, Supply Chain, Finance and Tax would be undertaken.

Mr. Manoj Kohli, CEO & Jt. Managing Director, Bharti Airtel Ltd. said,: " The Shared Services initiative is part of an overall transformation programme undertaken by us to improve the efficiency, speed and quality of service. The Shared Services will deliver all taxation compliances, and also prepare the Company for the new GST regime which is expected in 2010. We are proud of our tax compliance record, specially with our large scale and wide spread operations. With this launch, we will be able to scale up our operations to more than 200 million customers whilst sustaining our compliance track record. We are thankful to the Chairman, CBEC, and the Commissioner, Service Tax for their whole hearted support to our Shared Services".
