Market leader Airtel follows others in offering per second tariff
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  02 Nov 2009

Bharti Airtel today announced the launch of its new ‘Freedom Plan’ which is basically a per second billing tariff scheme. Bharti’s scheme offers local and STD calls to Airtel network at 1 paise per second and 1.20 paise per second for local and STD calls made to other networks.

Mr. Atul Bindal, President, Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel Ltd. said,“In keeping with our ethos of providing the best to our customers, we are delighted to offer a one second pulse to those customers who find value in this pulse. Customers now have a wide choice of plans based on their usage and calling patterns," he added.

The scheme is available across the country.

Another option available to subscribers is the ‘Airtel Advantage Plan’ offering all calls within Airtel network at 50 paise per minute and calls to other networks at 60 paise per minute.

Incidentally the new tariff is announced on the same day as Airtel announced its Q2 financial performance posting a single digit growth rate in revenues.
