VAS solution provider, Comviva bagged the “Best New Service” and “Telecom Innovation of the Year” Awards at the AfricaCom Awards 2009 ceremony, for its Virtual SIM solution and its work in the field of virtual mobile telephony.
The awards acknowledge the achievements and successes within the African communications market during the last 12 months.
Accepting the awards, Mr. Sangeet Chowfla, Chief Strategy Officer and EVP Products, Comviva said, “This is very heartening industry recognition of Comviva’s products and customer engagement, given the amount of new initiatives that are happening across Africa. We constantly strive to innovate in the solutions we deliver and the business models we develop. Virtual SIM represents a major milestone in our mission to deliver innovative solutions to service providers in emerging markets, allowing them to extend mobile communications services to new consumer segments. Having successfully launched Virtual SIM in Africa, we are confident that Virtual SIM will dramatically increase the affordability of a mobile connection for the economically underprivileged in the world’s emerging markets.”
The Virtual SIM solution is designed for low economy regions where having individual phones may not be viable. The solution allows different users to share a common phone yet maintain a different account. |
