Huawei Technologies continued its increased focus on the North American market by bagging an IP-transformation contract from USA’s eight largest cable service provider, Mediacom Communications. As part of the deal, Huawei will deploy its Next-Generation Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (NG-DWDM) platform, OSN6800A NG-WDM transport spanning 4,000 km.
The platform makes use of multi-degree ROADM optical technology, tunable optics, and OTN cross-connects. The network solution will support 10/40G and future 100G wavelengths to competitively deliver advanced, high bandwidth services today and well into the future, says Huawei.
“Huawei’s dedicated support resources, understanding of our network requirements and ability to meet our aggressive project delivery dates were key factors in selecting them as our partner for this project,” said Greg Euker, Director of IP Networks, Mediacom. “Huawei’s technology and solutions allowed us to migrate to a next-generation platform and cost-effectively deliver innovative services to meet the growing demands of our business and residential customers.”
“This large scale deployment is an important project showcasing Huawei’s commitment to the North American multiple system operators (MSO) space,” said Carl Liu, Executive Vice President of Huawei North America. “We are committed to delivering a quality network to Mediacom and continuously supporting our customers’ All-IP network transformation through the high-quality products and services.” |
