Govt says Airtel, RCom, TTSL collectively owe more than Rs 550 cr

Minister of State for IT and Telecom, Gurudas Kamat on Monday told the Lok Sabha that Tata Teleservices (TTSL) and Reliance Communications top the list of service providers who owe government spectrum charges and licence fee.

 

"TTSL is at top with Rs 351.64 crore outstanding spectrum charges followed by RCom with Rs 118.09 crore as spectrum charges and Rs 48.55 crore towards licence fee outstanding," said the Minister.

 

There are in total nine players who owe government such charges with Airtel too having an outstanding amount of Rs 56.31 crore. .

 

In terms of contribution, Bharti Airtel topped the list contributing the maximum by paying Rs 1,355.14 crore in 2008-09. In total the government earned Rs 2,927 crore from all the operators.
