VAS enabler, Comviva launched a ‘no download’ Online Gaming Solution (OGS) which is an online, server-driven solution allowing users a one-click access to multiple games and requires only the ‘OGS client’ software to be downloaded.
Currently users have to download each individual game. Comviva says that the solution’s advanced personalization features simplify service usage and facilitate game discovery significantly increasing gaming penetration by enhancing gaming APRU from both existing and new users.
Moreover users gain access to only those games which are compatible with their handsets.
From an operator perspective, the solution enables flexibility in pricing such as offering free trials as well as offering more affordable pricing for segments deterred by relatively high upfront, one-off charges, which is the pricing norm for the download model.
The solution compliments low-bandwidth GPRS networks as well.
Manoranjan Mohapatra, CEO, Comviva comments, “Recent reports show mobile gaming industry revenues globally are expected to grow from USD 4.3 billion in 2008 to USD 7 billion by 2013. We believe that online gaming options can drive industry revenues far beyond this, especially in price-sensitive emerging markets. This is why our Online Gaming Solution represents such a significant step in building the mobile gaming market. Not only is the service experience vastly superior, but consumers will also benefit from highly flexible pricing propositions.” |
