Telecom New Zealand is facing tough times from its XT Network subscribers as the network snapped up for the fourth time in two months resulting in grave inconvenience to subscribers with some of them also facing tough times due to being unable to access emergency services.
The issue has already resulted in departure of company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Frank Mount. But CEO, Paul Reynolds, is however confident of overcoming the issue soon. He categorically refuted any plans to resign over the issue but offered his apology to subscribers.
“I''m determined to get this fixed. I feel let down," said Reynolds. "I feel like as CEO I'm here for the tough times, to lead this organisation through those tough times and get the right outcome for our customers.”
Reynolds pulled technology partner Alcatel-Lucent for these repeated failures and also put the company on notice. “This works (the solution deployed by Alcatel-Lucent) well in the rest of the world, we want to know why it doesn't in New Zealand,” said the CEO.
The CEO said that all the four network failures were caused by different problems, though two were following operational processes. The failures are being observed at radio network controller located in Christchurch.
The issue also saw the exit of Alcatel-Lucent New Zealand’s Head Steve Lowe. |
