The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) welcomed Do’s announcement of fixing the auctions dates for 3G spectrum on April, 09 with COAI Officiating Director General, T.R. Dua saying that the GSM industry had been eagerly awaiting the 3G auctions.
He further stated that the private GSM industry is all geared up to provide high speed internet and wide range of multimedia services. He further stated that 3G technologies and future enhancements will offer the most expeditious and cost effective means of providing mobile broadband to the masses.
He averred that 3G would give a major impetus to the growth and penetration of mobile broadband services in the country and the mobile industry is keen to deliver on its promise to make affordable broadband services available to the consumers in the shortest possible time frame.
He reiterated that 3G technology would not only provide innovative experience to the consumers, but would also act as a major catalyst for social and economic empowerment, increasing productivity and quality of life. 3G would also prove to be a crucial tool to boost rural telephony by enhancing social initiatives such as delivering Tele-Education, Tele-Medicine, etc. |
