COAI appoints Rajan Mathews as new DG

COAI announced the appointment of Rajan Mathews as the new Director General of COAI replacing

Prior to joining COAI, Mr. Mathews was the COO of US operations and Corporate CFO and V.P. of Telargo, where he oversaw the company's US operations and financial, accounting, treasury, tax, administrative and HR functions.

He holds an MBA and Master of Arts degrees from Rutgers University and is a CPA from the State of New Jersey.

On his appointment Mathews said, “It is a privilege to be the Director General of such a prominent industry association in India. I am also delighted to come back and serve the Indian telecom industry at a time when it is making record progress and there is no stopping now. I can clearly see that the time ahead is going to be full of exciting opportunities. However, at the same time there will also be several challenging issues for which we need to take steps in the right direction for their effective resolution.”

Ms. Suneeta Reddy, Chairperson, COAI congratulated Mr. Rajan Mathews on assuming the Office of Director General of COAI and stated,” We believe that the association would greatly benefit from the experiences of such an eminent personality and his contribution towards the industry will help us in achieving newer heights.”

The post of DG at COAI was vacant for some months from the time Mr. T V Ramachandran, the former DG parted ways to take responsibility as Vodafone Essar’s Resident Director for Regulatory Affairs.
