Mobile handset leader Nokia today launched new handsets in the Indian market as well as an enhanced version of its free push mail Messaging service.
The messaging service can support up to 10 email accounts including popular services such as GMail, Yahoo, Rediffmail, Sify and Indiatimes. Data access charges will be applicable on the services as per the user’s plan.
"People are looking at messaging services as an enhanced business tool. There are six million mail users on mobile in India. The number is expected to touch 130 million in 2014," Nokia India Managing Director and Vice President D Shivakumar said.
Nokia says there are over three million active users for the messaging services across the globe.
“India is among the top five countries for the service and we are confident that with our decision to offer it free of cost, we will see a significant surge in adoption of email and messaging services in the country,” he added.
The company also launched three QWERTY handsets in the Indian market namely the C3 priced at Rs 5,317.89, the C6 which is a touch and full keyboard phone priced at Rs 13,000 and the E5 which is a business-cum-entertainment handset priced at Rs 10,634. |
