TRAI to hold fresh talks with stakeholders over new 2G recommendations
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  21 May 2010

The Indian telecom regulator, TRAI which is facing flak from a section of the industry players over its new 2G recommendations, will hold fresh talks with such players to resolve the issue.

"I have asked the operators to give their views on linking 3G spectrum price to 2G by June 15. We plan to finalise the process by July 15," said TRAI Chairman J S Sharma. "We are consulting others as well," he said.

Incumbent GSM operators have been very vocal about their disappointment with the new recommendations as they feel that these are unfair to them inspite of contributing heavily over the past years by way of licence fee and spectrum fee payments.
