Nokia under scrutiny in India for Tax evasion
TT Correspondent |  |  08 Jan 2013

There is another bad news for Nokia. Indian Income tax authorities today raided offices and manufacturing units of Nokia. The raids started early morning today as a large team of officials reached its manufacturing unit in Sriperumdur and offices in Chennai.

Sources say that the tax authorities suspect it to evade tax to the tune of Rs 3,000 crore, though it could not be confirmed from the Income tax department.

Nokia was the first company to manufacture mobile phones in India. At one point it sold the highest number of phones in India.

At the time of writing of the story, the raids were going on and the details will be known later.
