The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Coimbatore, on Friday launched the ‘Rakshak'' mobile prepaid plan for the personnel/officers of the Central Paramilitary Forces. The first set of Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards were handed over by Principal General Manager of BSNL N. Hari Babu to Kishor Prasad-Commandant of Central Reserve Police Force – Central Training College II, in the presence of BSNL General Manager C. Sunitha.
Under the plan, two BSNL numbers anywhere in the country could be contacted every day free of cost for 20 minutes (for both numbers combined together), two BSNL numbers within Tamil Nadu circle (including Chennai) could be contacted at a reduced call rate of 20 paise per minute. One BSNL number in any State other than Chennai/Tamil Nadu could be contacted at a reduced call rate of 30 paise per minute.
Mr.Hari Babu said that the commercial aspects of the postpaid Rakshak plans are being worked out and would be launched soon.
Mr. Hari Babu also said that steps were being taken to provide land line bill copies through e-mail for the subscribers. For which the BSNL would collect the e-mail IDs from the subscribers in June. Mr. Babu said that electronic stapling would also be introduced shortly, wherein bills for various services from BSNL would come as separate bills but stapled together.
