Demanding more funds for the renewable energy in the country and change in the country’s energy policies, Greenpeace has urged the government to impose one percent tax on gross revenue of telecom service providers as recovery of diesel subsidies.
The NGO told Finance Minister Pranab Mukkherjee during the pre-budget consultation.
In their submission to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherkjee during the pre-budget consultation, Greenpeace called for increased allocation of funds for renewable energy.
Greenpeace said that teleco sector which devours Rs.2,600 crores of subsidies is the second largest diesel consumer in the country after railways.
"It is absolutely necessary that our government adopts a systematic approach that guarantees sustainability in progress in the long run," said Samit Aich, executive director, Greenpeace India. |
