The Western world telecom vendors continue to be reeling under the financial meltdown. France-based vendor Alcatel-Lucent announced a loss of 402 million euros ($537.5 million) from 181 million euros a year earlier which turns out to be a further widening of the loss by more than 100%.
Revenues were down by 6.9% to 3.6 billion euros.
The company however appeared optimistic of future trends as the CEO, Ben Verwaayen said that the company''s guidance for the year remains unchanged and the year will be a year of transition, he added. The company is aiming to register profits by second half of 2010.
“I am pleased with the customer response to our new direction and strategy,” he said. “Their confidence in our capabilities is strong, as illustrated by our recent wins in 3G and LTE (News - Alert) as well as the encouraging increase in our order intake in both North America and Asia Pacific," said the CEO.
The company reported 18 % decline in revenues from wireless network business while revenues from CDMA too witnessed a decline. Revenues for W-CDMA i.e. 3G networks increased well mainly on account of the North American and the Chinese market. |
