Ceragon Networks Ltd., a provider of LTE-Ready wireless backhaul solutions, said today that it has bagged fresh orders from Tata Teleservices Ltd. to render its advanced SDH and IP FibeAir solutions for the expansion of the latter’s GSM mobile network in seven new communication circles, covering a population of about 400 million.
The new contract is an extension of an earlier long-term supply agreement, signed in mid-2008, under which, Ceragon deployed high capacity backhaul equipment in three circles of the operator’s network.
“We are very happy to strengthen our relations with a leading wireless operator such as Tata Teleservices. Our selection for such a large-scale deployment underscores Ceragon’s ability to deliver the right products to the market, powering our customers with the solutions they need – when they need them,” stated Ira Palti, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ceragon.
As a part of the new agreement, the number of circles served by Ceragon equipment will total to 10, including the Delhi metro area. The deployments will include Ceragon’s FibeAir 1500R wireless SDH solutions and FibeAir IP-10 that supports native TDM, Native2 (hybrid TDM/Ethernet) and native Ethernet over a single platform.
Commenting further, Mr. A. G. Rao, President & Chief Technology Officer, Tata Teleservices Limited, said, “Tata Teleservices is rapidly moving and gearing towards launch of GSM services and also enhancing capabilities on CDMA network. To match the scale, we selected Ceragon as our technology partners.” |
