Cisco Systems set about another round of lay offs under the company’s plan of trimming its costs as plunging sales continue to make ripples, reported The Wall Street Journal.
The San Jose-based company pink slipped about 600 to 700 people at its headquarter.
“We are doing everything possible to minimize the impact on employees affected by the limited restructuring,” said a Cisco spokesman.
Separately, it also sacked employees in branch offices across US; however the total number of job cuts still remains unclear.
Earlier in February, Cisco Chief Executive John Chambers said it would cut between 1,500 and 2,000 positions over the remainder of its fiscal year, i.e. the end of July, while it made hundreds of cuts in the same month.
Cisco, which had 66,558 employees at April end, reported consecutive quarters of declining sales. |
