TT COrrespondent |  New Delhi |  11 Aug 2009

Aricent, a global innovation, technology and services company today unveiled a new comprehensive software suite, Media EXP, for multimedia-oriented consumer appliances like mobile Internet devices (MIDs), smart phones, entertainment devices, digital photo frames, portable media players, and netbooks to name a few.

“The world of consumer electronics is hyper competitive today…We introduced Media EXP to help our customers thrive in this environment and deliver innovative, high performance consumer electronics solutions while reducing costs and development complexity,” said Sajal Gupta, vice president of business development for wireless solutions at Aricent.

The software suite features important multimedia components such as high-definition multimedia CODECs, advanced multimedia end-user applications; communication applications for voice, video and Rich Communications Services (RCS); and device middleware interfaces, like Real-Time Transport Protocol and Real-Time Streaming Protocol; Video Telephony - 324M; and Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld (DVB-H).

Media EXP is believed to offer performance and power optimized combination of essential middleware components critical for delivering the most advanced multimedia experience for consumer devices used today.

In addition, it helps reduce the cost and time to market challenges linked with multi-vendor management and complex component integration, says the firm.

Furthermore, Aricent claims that the Media EXP can improve the battery life by up to 44 percent with more than 50 percent encoding and decoding performance improvement as compared with open source solutions.

Compliant with the DLNA interoperability instructions and connectivity protocols such as MTP and PictBridge, Media EXP is available for most of the hardware platforms.

Amongst the operating systems, it can run on Symbian, GoogleTM Android, Microsoft Windows Mobile, Linux and Mentor Graphic’s Nucleus.
