Motorola Inc. Home & Networks Mobility said it has successfully completed its collaborative Over-the-Air (OTA) trial with operators, reiterating its commitment to rendering next generation networks to keep up with the future needs of TDD spectrum operators in China and across the world.
The trials that form a part of the Time Division Duplex Long-Term Evolution (TD-LTE) commercialization, finds Motorola as the first company to perform a complete download throughput up to 70 megabits per second (Mbps) in a 20 megahertz (MHz) bandwidth channel, said the company.
“Motorola is committed to broadband and 4G developments, and supports both TD-LTE and Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) LTE. We’ve made significant progress in TD-LTE commercialization as demonstrated by these trials,” commented Dr. Mohammad Akhtar, vice president and general manager, Home and Networks Mobility, Motorola China.
The collaborative trials also mark the first hand-over with live applications and the first ever Multi-User Equipment (UE) to have tested under a single sector, claims the company.
The various equipments put to use in these trials comprise of Motorola’s second-generation OFDM products including Motorola’s Base Band Unit (BBU) that supports TD-LTE, FDD-LTE and WiMAX, and features a Remote Radio Unit (RRU) that supports 2x2 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO). |
