Reliance Communications (RCom) is turning its focus on VAS. After introducing sachet-based pricing model, the company is now set to introduce Mobile Conferencing Services to its CDMA as well as GSM subscribers. For this it has tied up with US firm Kodiak Networks.
The service allows subscriber to establish a conference call among a group of 9 contacts from the subscriber’s phone book with a single click. RCom says that it is different from the existing conferencing services as it does not require any manual intervention.
The services to be offered for a monthly rental of Rs 99 and open to both prepaid and postpaid subscribers supports BlackBerry, BREW, Java, Symbian and Windows Mobile OS.
Kodiak Networks will offer the solution for this service in the form of a IP packet-based Real-Time Exchange System enabling RCom to offer Mobile Instant Conferencing as well as Mobile Scheduled Conferencing services.

Mobile Instant Conferencing Services offer immediate dial-out mobile conferencing including one-touch mobile call origination from the handset’s contact list.
The Mobile Scheduled Conferencing service enables user to schedule conference calls directly from their mobile handsets with auto-SMS reminder facility. |
