TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  24 Aug 2009

The broadband sector in India, which is still in an infancy stage when compared to the huge mobile subscriber base, is set to witness a new war game with Tata Communications announcing the launch of Tata Indicom Extra.

The services offered under this bouquet will be value added services such as Global Internet Roaming, Net Telephony, Wi-Fi, movies, music and over 150 business and home applications. But the main USP is that these services can be subscribed to subscribers from not only Tata Indicom’s fold but also by those who are subscribed to other service providers.

“Tata Indicom Extra is indeed a unique first of its kind prepaid offering, which allows internet customers access to our entire bouquet of value added services like Global Internet Roaming, Net Telephony and content services. It is truly the breaking of barriers and offering ease and convenience of usage to service through a system which is ISP agnostic. This is yet another innovation in customer delight from Tata Communications which has pioneered India’s Internet services,” says Mehul Kapadia, Head- Sales and Marketing for the Tata Communications Retail Business Unit.

Interested subscribers can avail Tata Indicom Extra offerings by purchasing it online or offline through retail outlets. The services are available in form of prepaid cards ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 6,500.

“We have build upon a rich, unmatched portfolio of value added services through partnerships with other content providers and are happy to offer it to all Internet users,” adds Mr  Kapadia.
