Motorola Inc. has unveiled its new rugged mobile computer, the MC9500, leveraging the functionality of its MC9000, to offer reliable performance particularly for mobile workforces in the transportation and logistics, parcel/post, direct store delivery, field service and public safety industries.

The Windows Mobile powered handheld device, claiming to take mobile computing innovation to the next level, will increase productivity, streamline operations and reduce total cost of ownership, said the company.

In addition to the features of the popular MC9000, the MC9500 mobile computer bundles up new capabilities such as modular 3.5G WAN for a groundbreaking enterprise mobility solution that can change the way organizations do business.

Powered by Marvell XScale PXA320 running at 806 MHz processor and Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 OS, the MC9500 brings latest technology to the mobile workforce and the integrated GPS functionality can offer coverage in the most challenging environments for reliable location-based services.

The MC9500 is also said to be the first Motorola mobile computing device that uses the Motorola Mobility Platform Architecture 2.0 and can run on 3.5G GSM HSPDA and 3.5G CDMA-EVDO Rev A networks.

Besides, the MC9500 also features a three mega-pixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.7” 640 x 480 display.

Further, the MC9500 also offers a variety of data capture options to provide increased flexibility for enterprise customers, including a 1D laser scanner or 2D imager.
