The GSMA has named fring, the mobile social hub that lets users communicate and share web-based experiences from their mobile devices, as one of the two winners of the GSMA Mobile Innovation Grand Prix- Israel Tournament. fring will continue as a finalist at the GSMA Global Mobile Awards - Mobile Innovation Grand Prix Final at GSMA’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, February 2010.

“fring is very proud to be named a winner at the Mobile Innovation Awards and we’re looking forward to the Grand Prix finals in Barcelona. We would like to thank the organizers, judges and sponsors for this great honor” said Avi Shechter, co-founder and CEO of fring.

“This recognition symbolizes the merging of mobile and web worlds, as mobile technology enables users to communicate and share experiences with friends wherever they are – on the web, or on the phone. Furthermore, it symbolizes the acceptance of mobile rich-communication technology by both operators and manufacturers, representing the industry'''s mainstream,” added Shechter.

Furthering the comment, Bill Gajda, Chief Commercial Officer at the GSMA said, “We are thrilled with the number of high-quality entries we received for the Israel Tournament of the 2010 Mobile Innovation Grand Prix Competition. This event provides a rare opportunity for innovators to pitch new technologies to senior executives within the mobile operator, IT and venture capitalist communities.”
