Nokia recalls millions of charges over quality concerns
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  09 Nov 2009

Nokia issued a mobile charger exchange program after concerns over quality issues related to few models of mobile chargers. The exchange program is effective worldwide including in India.

The three models, AC-3E, AC-3U or AC-4U have been identified to have a plastic cover which may loose and separate thereby exposing the charger’s internal components and potentially posing risk of an electric shock.

Nokia however tries to pacify any major concerns as it says that there are no reported mishappenings related to any of these chargers.

The AC-3E and AC-3U models, manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009; and the AC-4U model, manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009 are under consideration.

“If you have one of the affected chargers, we suggest you stop using it and exchange it for a free replacement. You can find out if yours is eligible for replacement from the Nokia charger exchange website or your local Nokia website” says a company statement.

Reports estimate such chargers to number as high as 14 million.

Nokia has blamed it on a third party which has manufactured the chargers.
