NComputing today claimed bagging a contract from Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to deploy 31,000 virtual desktops in ESIC offices and clinics across India. NComputing will deliver the products to Wipro Infotech which has given it the order.
As part of the deal ESIC will deliver thin client work stations and vSpace Virtualization Software to ESIC.
The deal is part of ESIC’s 'Project Panchdeep’, the largest e-Governance project in India, to streamline insurance and healthcare services that ESIC provides to employers, employees, and state and central government workers. It is considered to be the largest Cloud Computing project in India.
Wipro desktop platform with NComputing devices and software deployed at ESIC hospitals will ensure effective and optimum utilization of resources at minimum cost to ESIC beneficiaries,” says Mr Ashok Tripathy, General Manager, Wipro Infotech.
“We are honored that NComputing has been selected for this strategic initiative as it will vastly improve healthcare for the 12million beneficiaries by speeding insurance and medical services,” comments Mr. Stephen Dukker, chairman and CEO, NComputing. NComputing technology enables a desktop PCto be shared by up to 30 users and a server to be shared by hundreds of users –with each user getting a full computing experience. By sharing the PCs and servers, organizations can typically reduce purchase and support costs by 75% and electricity costs by 90%. |
