Ericsson, NSN to power TeliaSonera to LTE in Norway and Sweden
TT Bureau |  |  18 Jan 2010

TeliaSonera AB selected European players Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to upgrade its network to LTE which is considered to be a 4G technology. The contract is for Norway and Sweden markets, four municipalities in Norway and 25 municipalities in Sweden.

Last year the company had chosen Ericsson and Huawei to build a LTE network in Stockholm and Oslo respectively.

Ericsson will deploy the next-generation packet core, and while Ericsson and NSN will offer access infrastructure, supporting software, and associated network rollout and professional services.

Officially, TeliaSonera said that the contract was awarded due to the better commercial proposition of Ericsson and NSN.

Recently TeliaSonera’s rival Telenor had selected Huawei for LTE deployments in Norway and Sweden.
