Opera Software launches enhanced version of Opera Mini mobile browser
TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  09 Jul 2010

Opera Software introduced Opera Mini 5.1 mobile browser to further enhance the browsing experience on mobile phones with limited memory. Among other features, the update in the new version includes a new optimized browser skin allowing for more pages to be open at the same time, more rapid scrolling through pages, and overall improved browsing performance, claims Opera.

The updates find specific relevance to handsets including Nokia S40 with limited memory, Nokia 5130 XpressMusic, Nokia 6300 and Nokia 2700 handsets. The browser will support Sony Ericsson handsets such as K550i and W810i.

“The goal with Opera Mini is to make the Web available to anyone, anywhere, regardless of where they come from or the handset they have,” says Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “More than 61 million people on over 3000 devices have chosen to surf the Web with Opera Mini for fast and easy Internet access at a considerably lower cost.”

The browser compresses data by 90% thereby decreasing the billing for GPRS services.
