Telecommunication gear maker Nokia Siemens Networks has entered into a joint venture agreement with Juniper Networks to offer Carrier Ethernet solution for mobile backhaul, business and residential broadband networks.
With this, Nokia Siemens Networks has extended its long-standing relationship with Juniper.
“We agreed to make the next step of cooperation with Juniper,” said Nokia Siemens Networks CTO Stephan Scholz.
The JV named "Carrier Ethernet Solutions”, whose 60 percent share will be held by Juniper Networks and the remaining 40 percent by NSN, on Tuesday received regulatory approval months after it was first showed off in June.
The new joint venture will be headed by John Stewart, the former vice president and general manager of the Mobility and Circuit Emulation Business Unit at Juniper Networks, as the chief executive officer.
“Both companies bring best-in-class technologies, and the joint venture provides an opportunity for greater market access in carrier Ethernet, with Juniper's leadership position in wireline and NSN's leadership position in both wireline and wireless,” said Mr. Stewart.
Further, the former senior manager in finance and control of Nokia Siemens Networks., Tom van den Boom, will take on the role of Chief Financial Officer.
The business unit will incorporate Juniper’s MX series Ethernet services routers and Nokia Siemens’ A series Carrier Ethernet switches. |
