Vodafone submits final reply on tax case in India
TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  15 Mar 2010

Vodafone said on Friday that it submitted its final reply to the Income Tax department in India over the issue of tax on its acquisition of Hutch stake for the latter’s joint venture in India.

The Income-Tax department claims that Vodafone is liable to pay $ 2 billion over the $11.2 billion deal of 2007 to buy a 67 percent stake in Hutchison Essar.

The company maintains that it is not liable to pay any tax to the Income Tax department on this issue.
