Nokia which is facing a tough time post emergence of smartphone as a category in the mobile handset space is gradually losing out on market share in India as well, shows a new Mobile Metrics report published by mobile web advertising firm, Admob.
While Nokia enjoyed a market share of 60% till January 2010, by the end of March 2010 its market share in the requests from mobile devices in the mobile web space had dropped to 56%. However as a consolation to Nokia, the top 10 models with highest requests in the mobile web space are all Nokia-made.
Samsung’s share is observed to have increased during the period from December 2009 (7%) to March 2010 (9%). Share of Others which mainly include domestic brands such as Micromax, Spice, Intex increased to 23% by the end of March 2010.
When considered Southeast Asia as a region, Nokia’s share is seen at 47% while Apple emerges at number 2 spot with market share of 16%. Even in the operating system space, Nokia’s Symbian occupies the top slot with market share of 62%.
